The 12South Neighborhood is hosting the 7th Annual 12 South Winter WarmUp on Saturday December 1, 2018 at Sevier Park starting at 8:00AM. This is a closed-course road race through the scenic & historic 12 South Neighborhood with timing and event management by Start 2 Finish. You can pick your level of challenge by signing up for the 6K (3.7 miles) or 12K distance (7.4 miles). Click here to view the course map.  This race precedes the 12South Winter Warmer.

The Tennessean is reporting that Metro Nashville has applied for 30 million in federal funds to build a Greenway that will to run along I-440 from I-65 split to I-40 Intersection.  The project, to be complete by 2022, will connect several Nashville neighborhoods including Sylvan Park, Richland/Cherokee Park, Hillsboro-West End, Belmont-Hillsboro, 12South and Wedgewood-Houston.

The 960-acre Shelby Bottoms Greenway and Nature Park is located in East Nashville adjacent to Shelby Park and is one of five Natural Area Parks within Metro Parks. With approximately three miles of Cumberland River frontage, this area features bottomland hardwood forests, open fields, wetlands, and streams, providing excellent habitat for birds, amphibians, deer and more. The greenway offers over 5 miles of paved ADA accessible trail for hiking, biking, running, skating and wildlife watching and over 5 miles of primitive trails for more passive activities of walking, running and exploring nature.

The first greenway along Brown’s Creek was created on land that where homes were cleared after being wiped out by the Nashville flood of 2010.  The .65 mile trail lies at the east end of Battlefield Avenue.  Long term plans include connecting the Brown’s Creek Greeenway to Sevier Park and Gale Lane Park in 12South through neighborhood bike lanes.
