The 6th annual Sevier Park Fest will kick off Friday with the J. Roddy Walston, Amanda Shires, and SUSTO playing in the Sevier Park starting at 7pm.  The purpose of the Sevier Park Street Fest is to bring together the Belmont-Hillsboro and 12South neighborhood communities in partnership to promote local talent and businesses.  Money raised will be used to enhance and support Sevier Park’s planned renewal and any future improvements that increases the park’s community use and appeal through The Friends of Sevier Park.

The 12South Neighborhood is hosting the 5th Annual 12 South Winter WarmUp on Saturday December 3, 2016 at Sevier Park starting at 8:00AM. This is a closed-course road race through the scenic & historic 12 South Neighborhood with timing and event management by Start 2 Finish. You can pick your level of challenge by signing up for the 6K (3.7 miles) or 12K distance (7.4 miles). Click here to view the course map.  This race precedes the 12South Winter Warmer.

Spring construction start targeted for Melrose area Publix grocery store

Plans for a Publix near Berry Hill took a key step forward on Thursday when the Metro Board of Zoning Appeals in an unanimous vote granted the developer’s request for a special exception to build a grocery store on a 1.5-acre site at 2223 Eighth Ave. S.  “With this BZA approval, we will now move into the design phase of the project and construction is slated to start in the spring of 2018 with an estimated opening in the summer of 2019,” said Mike McGuffin, a principal in developer CHM Development.

As of 2017, Nashville has 86 miles of greenway trails (including paved, off-street and multi-use trails), plus over 150 miles of primitive and paved trails in local parks. About 5 new miles of greenways have already received funding and are in the design or construction phase, with more miles of greenway targeted for completion over the next several years.

Bristol gives up on 12South project

Franklin-based Bristol Development Group is walking away from plans for an apartment project in 12South.  The Tennessean reports that Bristol will no longer buy the Tabernacle Baptist Church property at 2214 12th Ave. S., which it has had under contract for a year and a half. Bristol’s interest in the property was first reported more than two years ago.

This family-friendly event will be held along 12th Avenue South from Sevier Park in 12South down to the Gulch.  The event will kick-off with a Halloween themed parade at 2pm.  The avenue will be closed to cars until 6pm allowing for patrons to walk and enjoy games and activities along the route.

The 12South Concert Series is a free, family friendly event featuring local bands.   Bring a blanket, chairs, and picnic and enjoy the music as well as visiting with neighbors and friends.    This year, there is one BLOW OUT concert on September 10th. It will include a performance by Waverly Belmont students, food trucks, as well as free food samples and picnic baskets (first come, first serve).

The largest fundraising event for Nashville’s Tomorrow Fund, Red, White, and Brew is a festival featuring food from Nashville restaurants and food trucks, local brews, wine, live music, and games.
